Yes, you can play Imposter online with friends in Aurora. The current game supports 3–10 players, costs $0 in the live application, runs in a modern browser and offers both secure shared-device handovers and private own-device rooms.

Can you play Imposter online?Open Aurora Imposter, choose Share one device or Use own devices, enter player names and start. Own-device hosts share a four-character room code or invite link; each person receives their private role and vote on their own screen.

What is Aurora Imposter?

It is a spoken social-deduction party game. Most players privately see the same secret word. One Imposter sees the category—and sometimes one broad early-seat hint—then tries to blend in while everyone gives clues and votes.

What does your group need?

3–10 players

The server requires at least three players and caps adult rooms at ten.

A modern browser

The live application is served as a browser game. Its own-device flow requires each participant to open the room link.

One or several devices

Pass one device with privacy handovers, or let every player use their own screen.

People who can talk

Clues and discussion are spoken; Aurora manages roles, order, choices, votes and scores.

How quickly can you start?

The setup itself has a short sequence: choose a device mode, enter names or create a room, choose the word pack and settings, then start after at least three players are ready. Aurora does not publish a guaranteed setup time, so this page does not invent one.

1

Choose devices

Use one shared device or create a room for everyone’s phone.

2

Choose settings

The host selects a word pack, early-seat assistance and Clue Stakes.

3

Reveal roles

Most players privately see the secret word; one player is the Imposter.

4

Give clues

Players speak in the displayed order without saying the word.

5

Decide and vote

With Clue Stakes, the group may request more cycles before secret voting.

6

Reveal

The vote reveals whether the Imposter was caught; classic mode can include a final word guess.

Verified Aurora flow for Imposter; private screens are hidden again before a shared device changes hands.

Can everyone use their own phone?

Yes. The host chooses Use own devices and creates a room. Friends open the invite or enter the four-character code and their name. Private roles, clue-cycle choices and votes stay on each player’s screen.

Can you play by sharing one phone?

Yes. Shared-device mode inserts a named neutral handover before every role, private clue-cycle choice and vote. Sensitive information is hidden again before the device changes hands.

Do you need to download an app?

No. The current product explicitly directs players to open the invite in a modern browser and states that there is nothing to download.

Is Aurora Imposter free?

The live application currently publishes a $0 offer in its WebApplication data and presents no payment step in the create or join flow. This describes the current product, not a promise that pricing can never change.

What happens after setup?

  1. Everyone privately checks their role.
  2. Players give one spoken clue each in the displayed order.
  3. With Clue Stakes, the group may privately request another clue cycle.
  4. Everyone locks a secret vote.
  5. Aurora reveals the result and updates scores.
